LTD Coverage
Basic Coverage
The basic Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan pays a benefit of 50% of your monthly compensation (up to a maximum monthly benefit of $10,000) if your disability continues for more than 26 weeks.
A detailed summary of this plan is available from the Insurance page of the Benefits Highlights section.
Supplemental LTD Coverage
In addition to the basic LTD benefit, you may purchase a supplemental benefit to provide additional protection, for a combined monthly LTD benefit of 66-2/3% of your monthly compensation, up to a maximum of $20,000 per month.
Because you pay for supplemental LTD coverage through payroll deductions on an after-tax basis, your supplemental LTD benefit, if you receive one, is generally not subject to federal tax.
Depending on when you enroll for supplemental disability coverage, you may have to provide evidence of insurability (EOI).
