Under Age 65
There are three medical options available to you if you are under age 65. All are administered by UnitedHealthcare and use UHC's "Choice Plus" network. Each option includes prescription drug benefits through Medco and mental health and substance abuse benefits through ValueOptions. The options are the same as those offered to active employees.
Core Option—provides comprehensive in- and out-of-network benefits, a wide range of low-cost preventive and routine care services, and affordable contribution amounts.
Out-of-Pocket Maximums
Your annual out-of-pocket maximum is based on your pay as of the day you retire from The McGraw-Hill Companies.
Traditional Option—provides a high level of coverage, and your out-of-pocket expenses for more extensive coverage may be lower than under the Core Option. However, your contributions for coverage under the Traditional Option are somewhat higher than under the Core Option.
Out-of-Area Option—available to participants who live in areas without easy access to "Choice Plus" network providers. Out-of-Area coverage is typically only available in rural areas. Coverage is similar to the in-network level of benefits available under the Core Option. That means you can see any licensed provider and still receive the Core Option's high in-network level of benefits.
Comparing Your Options
As you review your benefit options, the Retiree Medical Options Comparison Chart can help you evaluate specific benefit provisions in a side-by-side format. Take the time to understand the benefit provisions for each medical option.
